    Mumford rides again

Wow I just saw this and im totally amazed. They just published the car list for the upcoming xbox title Forza Motorsports and they are going to have Paul's Magellan Financial Viper CC in the game!

Looks like MGS has some true enthusiasts behind the game. What a touching way to honor Paul’s legacy.

You'd absolutely love my Mustang. It's a Hybrid. It burns both gasoline and rubber.

Is it just me or does the entire picture seem stretched vertically? The Evo looks WAY too tall, and the track much too narrow. Is Laguna Seca really just over two cars wide? In Gran Turismo 3 I've gone three cars wide at that exact spot... with room to spare. I hope it's just distortion caused by the overhead view...

More likely it is the image is 16X9 but was smashed in to a standard format.

If anyone gets a good screenshot of that car from the game, please post it here.

If you wanna run Laguna Seca, GT4 will be out soon....

Given that we have Xbox, as well as Live, that game will find it's way to our home, and played on our new plasma.

A most excellent way to honor PMUM.

So to a non-gaming-geek, the inevitable questions are:

    1) when will it be out;
    2) is it (going to be) better/worse/equal to GT4; and
    3) what steering wheels are best for Xbox usage. Pedals?

Well I was about to drop Live as I just don't play the xbox that much, but I'll let it renew for this.

I think it's going to be equal to GT4 personally. After the Forza demo came out the general consensus was that Forza was better. Since then another GT4 demo has come out and now GT4 is regarded as "better."

I think GT4 will be a better simulator, but each game will be just as fun as the other in it's own right. This is just from what I have read, obviously I haven't played either. At any rate, I can't imagine either of the sucking.

The website says it's due out in April.

MicroShaft sells force-feedback wheel and pedals, so I would imagine there would be fewer glitches with them than others.

The XBox isn't capable of force feedback other than cheesy vibration effects, which is a big strike against any driving game on that platform.

Played it downstairs at our Cafe (I work at Microsoft in Las Colinas, TX) for an hour and the physics engine is absolutely amazing. The damage component is equally impressive and if you spend any time dressing up a car you're gonna feel the pain when you scratch it.

This is an absolute requirement for owning an XBox.

Does anybody know what if any permission is required to use a person's name and car likeness in a game like this? According to Carol, nobody at Tiger Racing gave permission to use her car's likeness nor her name. Is that waived as part entering a pro series?

So does this mean there will be and Official CC.com Forza/GT4 sticky thread for the online races/dates/times? So that all us newbie-fucktard-non-OTcar-drivin sumbishes can race with you guys...and even put our sixteen year old son's on so that we can win occasionally?

(on edit: I hope I haven't set myself up for a very hard kick into my manhood. However because I love racing sims, and love competing...I still have to ask on the off chance someone will say "yes")

For online racing will you have to have Xbox live? Is there no other way to host a race?

There is a free application called Xbconnect that uses the system link function of the Xbox, originally used to physically link several Xboxes together, to link consoles over the internet. The application runs on a PC that is on the same network as the Xbox. Using Xbconnect, you can play games that are not Xbox Live enabled over the web. We use this application to allow a few of us that work for the same company, but in different regions, to play online. We play the original Halo and other games that work with System Link, but not Live. It works quite well.

When you enter a pro-race, all your rights are signed away. They are allowed to use your name, pics, videos, whatever and however they want. I'd guess that the sanctioning body, if they organized it, area allowed to sell your car's likeness to anyone they want to, and they can profit from it.

Thanks OutaFocus, looks like a good app. If I can pick up a job quick enough by mid-summer the Xbox and Forza will be mine.

    Looking for PMUM Viper Pics!

    Hey y'all,

RSR and The Pits are putting together an NAGT mod which appears to be based on the Speed World Challenge series (though I can't confirm that). As I mentioned in another thread (see page 6) they're putting Paul's Viper in the game! Here's some screen shots (which are works in progress)....

The Pits and RSR guys have asked me to provide any pics of Paul's car to aid in the accuracy of the paint skin and model. Does anyone have some they can provide? I'm still searching (and have found a few), but I'm sure there are more out there on your hard drives. So let's get them some good pics so that they can do Paul's ride justice!

Post here or e-mail to me directly:
    tommy_regan <at> yahoo <dot> com

Here's two shots I found online (sorry for the gargantuan size, but I'm not the one hosting them):
